Students in this course write a substantial essay on some philosophical issue involving probability. The choice of specific topic is up to you but if you would like some suggestions, or want to check your ideas, talk with me about it.
A typical length would be 15-20 pages. The only formatting requirements are that the paper be legible, have your name on it, and have numbered pages. Of course, you must document your sources. The essay is due Friday May 11 at 11:00 AM at my office; slip it under the door if I'm not there or you're in a hurry. Essays that are late without prior approval, or a good and verifiable reason, will be penalized two points per weekday of unexcused lateness. The essay counts for 50% of the course grade. |
