Graduate students in this course write an essay in addition to taking the three exams; the essay and the exams each count for 1/4 of the course grade.
The essay should deal with one or more of the topics covered in the course, i.e., laws, causation, explanation, theories, probability, or confirmation. The choice of topic is up to you but if you would like some suggestions, or want to check your ideas, talk with me about it. A reasonable length would be 3000 words (about 10 pages). Essays are due in class on December 6. My only formatting requirements are that the essay be legible, you put your name on it, and you number your pages. |
